The Legal Update on the City of Praise congregation’s cases filed against the Six Ungodly, Unholy, Self-Appointed, Rogue Crooks:
The Articles Case:
Case number CAL 12-13537 in which members of the congregation have filed a lawsuit against the six unholy, un-elected, self-appointed rogue employees, because they claim the congregation elected them as trustees of the church at our Landover, MD campus. This case is the exact same case that we received a default judgment against the six crooks by another Judge just too mysteriously have it given back to Judge Dwight Jackson who then overturned that decision. Now we have to go back to court and try this case before a Jury in Judge Jackson’s court room. The 6 crooks have managed to stall and delay this case for many months but their time is running out and they know it

This Friday December 13, 2013 at 9am there is a hearing at the County Courthouse 14735 Main Street, Upper Marlboro Maryland 20772 in Judge Dwight Jackson’s Courtroom

The purpose of the hearing is to resolve the issue of the 6 crooks refusal to attend depositions on their scheduled dates. A Deposition is when the crooks have to answer questions under oath with a court reporter present, for an upcoming case. The congregation is taking the six rogue employees to court because they intentionally did not show up for their pre-trial depositions. Approximately 90-100 days before a trial the lawyers meet in the judge’s chambers to set the dates for the trial. The judge then makes an order based on this meeting. There are hard dates that things need to be completed by. Because of the rogue employees refusal to attend their deposition our lawyers have filed BODILY ATTACHMENTs. This means the Sheriff could come and get them (handcuffs if necessary), and make them come to court and explain why they have refused to do the depositions.

Several questions beg to be answered. Why would these six unelected, self-appointed rogue employee crooks refuse to answer questions under oath? What are they afraid of? Could it be that these Un-Godly, Un-Holy, bible toting thieves are fearful of answering question related to the church’s financial records? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out that these six self-elected, unholy, rogue employees would rather have their teeth drilled without Novocain than answer questions about how the congregation DID NOT VOTE THEM IN in December 2010. (can you say perjury), and about the financial records (can you say soap on a rope)

Keep in mind that these are the same people who were previously asked to turn over the corporate records of the church. A non-profit 501c3. We had to sue them (Records case) to get the corporate records including the bank statements.

On October 26, 2012 not long after the Maryland Court of Special Appeals reversed the decision of the lower court. The Six Self-Appointed Rogue employees filed an appeal to the Supreme Court in Maryland. Well the Ungodly, Unholy six employees kept telling their supporters that Pastor Joel and Chairman Meadows did not win anything with the court of special appeals decision, lol. If that were true, then why did they immediately file an appeal??
They attempted to tie up this case in the court system for another 4-5 years by filing an appeal. But God!!
On Tuesday January 22, 2013, the Maryland Court of Appeals, which is the supreme court in Maryland has agreed with the Maryland Court of Special Appeals and has denied the Petition for Writ of Certiorari entered by the six Self-Appointed, Rogue employees. This means that the Court of Appeals of Maryland (the highest court) will not even entertain the thought of looking at their case. The court said that they saw no issue that would make them think an error occurred when the Court of Special Appeals overruled Judge Dwight Jackson. It said that he was wrong in giving the six Self-Appointed Rogue employees their summary judgment. They agreed that there was sufficient evidence to show that Pastor Joel was in fact a member of the Board of Trustees all the time.
Recap: So now you have the two highest courts in the State of Maryland, more than ten Honorable Judges stating that they do not see any reason why there should have been a Summary Judgment against Pastor Joel Peebles and Chairman William Meadows.
There is too much evidence that support Pastor Joel!

It’s important to note when reading this document and attempting to understand what the court is saying, that the term Summary Judgement means a decision can be made without a trial. It is interesting to note that the 6 rogue employees partitioned the court to have Pastor Joel and Chairman Meadows to pay for their court costs. The court denied that and instead they ordered the Six Unholy, Ungodly, Self-Appointed, Rogue employees to pay one-third of the court costs. Hmm! Didn’t see that coming.

Jericho City of Praise: A 10,000 seat sanctuary with 40 People
June 2, 2013 WORSHIP SERVICE UPDATE:
Ever wonder what the Jericho City of Praise worship service under the leadership of the six UnGodly, Self-Appointed, Rogue Employees looks like one year after firing Pastor Joel and excommunicating the leaders & members? Well Saints wonder no more. This is what you get when the Janitor, the Bookkeeper and the church Secretary do a hostile take over of the things of God.

The link below shows a clip of your service from June 2, 2013. The sanctuary at Jericho City of Praise seats 10,000 people, there are 40 people in the building. This is morally reprehensible and a reflection of your inability to run, build or grow a church. Unless God himself ordains it no one will follow Barbara Colvin-Etheridge, Rodney Walker or any other hireling.
Can you six still claim that this is what Apostle Betty Peebles wanted. Her vision was to have a 10,000 seat church for 40 people. It’s ok to admit you are wrong and repent .
God grows whatever he sanctions. We have been at Roosevelt High School and run out of space. We are at Forestville High School and in the first week exceeded your congregation for a month combined. The reason is simple we are only concerned about people not going to hell for eternity and not our egos or playing church. We are not concerned about growing a mega church. Lives are at stake for eternity and you all want to play church, fatten your own pocketbooks and use man-made efforts to grow something that is clearly dead, dying and defunct. it is time to admit you are wrong and do what is right.
The entire community should be outraged to see what has transpired. The Jericho City of Praise now has 40 people in the building because you six want to utilize the church to enrich yourselves personally. Shame on you.
Note:
The hostile takeover of Jericho by the Six UnGodly, Self-Appointed, Rogue employees has temporarily given them millions of dollars worth of property and millions of dollars in the bank. These six don’t care if the church grows or not, they are not in danger of losing any property because everything is paid in full, the church is not dependent on tithes & offerings to pay the bills. All they have to do is pay the bills because they have plenty of money. The “cash only” parking for the redskins stadium along with the monthly rent taken in at the Jericho warehouse park provides ample ‘Mad Money’ for them. Michael Freeman can’t claim he is helping out this church because Jericho has more money than his ministry.

Why Are We Called The City of Praise Church?
Many have asked why we call ourselves The City of Praise. The best person to answer this question is the one who changed the name of the church from Jericho City of Praise to The City of Praise, Apostle Betty P. Peebles
After the death of Elder John Peebles, Apostle Betty said during a 2005 New Years sermon, that she was changing the name of the church from Jericho City of Praise to The City of Praise. So, why have these six self-appointed, unholy, ungodly, rogue crooks who say they are carrying out her wishes refuse to do this? They fought against it after she died, they refuse to change the signs, they refuse to support the name change. They claim that they are keeping with her vision. How? You be the judge as to who is actually carrying out Apostle’s vision.

Are the Freeman’s Poised for a Backdoor Attack on this Ministry?
We believe that Opportunistic Pastors Mike and Dee Dee Freeman are attempting to slide in the backdoor of the City of Praise Church(Jericho)
Like a shark that smells blood in the water. Pastors Mike and Dee Dee Freeman have allegedly been waiting to make their move. They are alleged to be the architects behind this whole church takeover attempt, with the goal of having the six employees give/sell the ministry to them. The six employees allowed Mike and Dee Dee Freeman to have the FICWFM regional conference at OUR church building in September 2012. This event was planned well in advance of the Court of Special Appeals decision and took place a few days after the positive decision was handed down. Pastor Joel, our board and congregation could have stopped the FICWFM conference but since Apostle Fred Price would be in attendance it was thought that if the Freeman’s would listen to anyone it would be Apostle Fred Price. Apparently he has outgrown Fred Price. These actions have offended the congregation whose years of tithes, offerings and hard work have built this ministry and its assets. This is a classic hostile takeover attempt. First, get control of the board that holds the deed then have them sell/give the ministry to you. The court of special appeals decision reversed the earlier decision made by Judge Dwight Jackson. Consequently the six employees are no longer considered the legal board of trustees and do not hold the deed to the church.
Mike and Dee Dee Freeman’s actions are out-of-order. We the membership have a default judgment against the six self-appointed employees. A Default judgment is a binding judgment in favor of either party based on some failure to take action by the other party. Default judgments arise in circumstances whereby one party to a suit has failed to perform a court-ordered action, and subsequently that failure has not only prevented the issue from being presented before the court but also results in the court settling the legal dispute in favor of the compliant party.
The original congregation is intact, alive and thriving under the leadership of Pastor Joel Peebles and our Board of Trustees led by Chairman William Meadows (chairman for the past 40 years.) The City of Praise church is NOT a new church. Apostle Betty said during a service before she died that she was going to change the name of the church to the “City of Praise.” After she died Pastor Joel and the board of trustees changed the name and showed the congregation the video of the service where she made the proclamation. The church has been called “City of Praise” well before our leaders and other members were excommunicated. We are awaiting relief from the court which the judgment entitles us to. We have asked for a congregational vote to elect our board of trustees and that our church be put under a trustee until the vote occurs. We have given the court a list of trustees that are acceptable to us. There are at best about 100 members left worshipping at Jericho, including a few elders and ministers. The church is financially solvent and is not dependent on tithes and offerings to maintain its solvency. No outside interference is warranted. The congregation has not and will not ask Mike and Dee Dee Freeman for help. On the contrary we ask that they butt out.
It is alleged that Mike and Dee Dee Freeman are planning on using OUR church again for their New Years Eve service. He told his congregation at the FICWFM regional conference in September that they will be back at Jericho on New Year’s Eve. Again this is offensive to the congregation whose many years of tithes, offerings and hard work have built this ministry and its assets. Why is Mike Freeman so interested in what happens to us in court? There are pictures of him leaving the court-house minutes after the six employees and their lawyer exited the building when Pastor Joel won a case in the spring shortly before he was fired. He was also allegedly seen going in the judge’s chambers. One question begs to be answered: Why would Mike and Dee Dee plan a New Year’s eve program at our church when he knew that the special court of appeals had rendered a positive decision on our behalf and that we had a court date on November 30th for an ex parte hearing with a default judgment against these employees? The bible says in 1 Thess 5:22 “Abstain from ALL appearance of evil.” If Mike Freeman follows his modus operandi, when he is ready to make his move, look for him to address his congregation crying ugly face crocodile tears being consoled by DEE DEE and his family. He will say something like he didn’t want to get involved but they asked him to help save the ministry. And he will only get involved to help sure up this ministry and build it back up and he is doing it as a favor because he loved Apostle Betty and held her in such high regard. LOL. He did not even offer a word at her funeral, they left early and they did not attend the burial.
Corrupt civil leaders are exposed, rebuked and disciplined; therefore, corrupt church leaders must be exposed and rebuked. In 1 Tim 5:20 the bible tells us “Those who are sinning rebuke in the presence of all, that the rest also may fear.” Apostle Betty taught us that all true Christians knowledgeable of God’s Law have the authority to reprove, rebuke, and exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. Remember Jesus publicly denounced the corrupt scribes and Pharisees in Matthew 23: “25 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within are full of extortion and excess. 28 even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.”
The congregation is eager to have the court restore the rightful responsibilities of electing its leaders back to the people of the church and compel these six rogue employees to reveal how our tithes and offerings are being spent. We requested this information from the six employees over a year ago. In spite of it being against the law, they refuse to respond.The ex parte court hearing is rescheduled for Feb 8, 2013. In an ex parte hearing one party presents a motion or legal action without the other party having representation or notice. We also have a court date on Feb 22, 2013 to force the six unelected employees to turn over the financial records. This entire matter can be resolved in the very near future.
