Why Are We Called The City of Praise Church?
Many have asked why we call ourselves The City of Praise. The best person to answer this question is the one who changed the name of the church from Jericho City of Praise to The City of Praise, Apostle Betty P. Peebles
After the death of Elder John Peebles, Apostle Betty said during a 2005 New Years sermon, that she was changing the name of the church from Jericho City of Praise to The City of Praise. So, why have these six self-appointed, unholy, ungodly, rogue crooks who say they are carrying out her wishes refuse to do this? They fought against it after she died, they refuse to change the signs, they refuse to support the name change. They claim that they are keeping with her vision. How? You be the judge as to who is actually carrying out Apostle’s vision.

Judge allows the six Self-Appointed Rogue employees to file a motion which delayed the Ex-Parte hearing for two weeks

Unholy, Ungodly, Self-Appointed Rogue board excommunicates long time members
It’s a Shame before God! Long time born again spirit filled members of the City of Praise were kicked out the week before last. They were sent letters telling them not to come back to the church and they can not come onto the property. Long time elders, deacons and members were among those who received letters . This was an attempt to silence those who disagree with them and support Pastor Joel Peebles.

The devil wanted to get Brother Tree out of the way because of his role in the ‘Occupy Jericho’ movement. The fact is that Tree was an out spoken supporter of Pastor Joel Peebles and denounced the rude, disrespectful manner in which they spoke to and were treating him.
Now the devil is after Brother Rod Chavez (an Attorney in the Legal Ministry at the church) for his role in the movement. During the ‘Occupy Jericho’ movement which coincided with the thirty day Fast, God revealed to Brother Chavez an avenue for the members to legally get our church back. Like a voice crying in the wilderness Brother Chavez kept asking the question “SHOW ME THE $$MONEY”. The six rogue members seized on an opportunity to try to remove that voice out of play by filing a Temporary Restraining Order against him. As the bible says, if you take a brother to the heathen courts “SHAME ON YOU”!!
1 Corinthians 6 Lawsuits Among Believers
1 If any of you has a dispute with another, dare he take it before the ungodly for judgment instead of before the saints? 2 Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if you are to judge the world, are you not competent to judge trivial cases? 3 Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more the things of this life! 4 Therefore, if you have disputes about such matters, appoint as judges even men of little account in the church![a] 5 I say this to shame you. Is it possible that there is nobody among you wise enough to judge a dispute between believers? 6 But instead, one brother goes to law against another—and this in front of unbelievers!
7 The very fact that you have lawsuits among you means you have been completely defeated already. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

Mad Firing Frenzy Claims another Victim
A spirit of retaliation has over taken the six members of the rogue board of trustees led by Alma Denise Killen and Clarence Jackson. This group that seized control of the church in a hostile takeover have committed yet another act of defiance this time against one of Jericho’s finest. Yesterday Sunday Dec 11, 2011 one of the most humble, spirit filled and caring brothers in our ministry Trenillo Walters (known as Tree) was fired by the rogue six. Brother Tree the Supervisor of the Audio Ministry at the Jericho City of Praise became the latest victim of an ‘Out of Control’ rogue board bent on retaliation spawn by a vengeful, controlling, Jezebel spirit. The unelected rogue board led by Alma Denise Killen and Clarence Jackson with Gloria McLam-McGruder as a figure head reportedly became incensed by Brother Tree’s participation in both the Occupy Jericho protest march held in early November and the intercessory prayer vigils held on the past two Sunday mornings prior to the one unified 10:00 am service. The unelected rogue board’s decision to blatantly disrespect our current Pastor Joel R. Peebles Sr. as well as to retaliate against Brother Tree is another sad chapter in this hostile takeover story. When they changed the locks on the church buildings November 1st, and then lied about the reason for doing it, that was the catalyst that God used to push Brother Tree into that movement. The six rogue members finally retaliated against him on Sunday.
Witnesses reported that Clarence Jackson placed Alma Denise Killen in front of the door to the Audio Sound equipment room yesterday morning along with two PG County Sheriff deputy’s to keep Brother Tree (the Audio Supervisor) from entering that room. He was later fired. This controlling Jezebel spirit that has a firm grip on these six rogue members has also claimed other victims. This mad firing frenzy has hit long time Attorney for the church Bobby Henry, long time Chairman of the board of trustees William Meadows, trustee Anne Wesley and one the maintenance staff Mr. Smallwood. Mr. Smallwood was fired for helping out Pastor Joel and First Lady Ylawnda. Get this, myself and others included never knew the first name of Chairman Meadows until the six rogue members sued him in court because Apostle Peebles (mom) always called him Chairman Meadows, Hmmm!!
Brother Tenillo Walters has been a member of the Jericho City of Praise for 36 years. He has unselfishly served the audio ministry for over 15 years since before the new edifice was built. He has served under both of the founders of Jericho, Bishop James R. Peebles Senior and Apostle Betty P Peebles, their three sons Pastor James Peebles Jr., Elder John R. Peebles Minister of Music and Pastor Joel R. Peebles Sr. Brother Tree has many years of experience working in the audio & visual production area for large corporations such as Bet and ESPN to name a few. Over the years he has dedicated his god given talent to make Jericho’s audio ministry a ministry of excellence. He often comes in early and either stays late or takes work home with him. Brother Tree has also propped up this ministry by bringing and utilizing his own personal equipment. When there are special event at church such as a conference or concert, Brother Tree could be seen hauling in needed speakers, sound boards, cables & wires, etc., you name it. He transformed the Audio ministry into a ministry of excellence.
