Statement from City of Praise Pastor Joel Peebles on Victory in the Prince George’s County Court

PRLog (Press Release) – Apr 16, 2012 – – Today the same church employees who brought suit against Chairman William Meadows and me (four days after my mother died) demanded that the Prince Georges County Court give them complete control over the Joel Peebles Ministries.  To God be the glory, they did not prevail.

The constant lawsuits being filed by these employees are not only counter to Biblical principles, they are also an unconscionable and outrageous waste of time and money.  In addition to the church tithes and offerings that they are recklessly wasting on legal fees, they are also causing church members personal wage losses.  Today, the courtroom swelled with men and women who took leave from work and lost pay to show their support for the ministry.

For over a year, the City of Praise church family has endured attacks and bullying by this group.  I know this will ultimately bring us into a richer relationship with Christ. First Lady Ylawnda and I have joined with the thousands from our congregation in praying that the bullying and intimidation stop. Our capacity to show grace to those who persecute us has increased.

Because of the charge and legacy of my father and mother Bishop James Peebles and Apostle Betty Peebles, I am determined to press on in the work of building the ministry. The City of Praise is in the business of saving souls not suing believers.

I do not take the overwhelming support of the congregation for granted. The attempts to threaten church members who openly show support for me are well documented.  The list is heartbreaking.

•   Bobby Henry longtime general council was fired. •   Trenillo Waters who has attended the church for over 34 years and served as the head of the audio ministry for 15 years was fired after he led the congregation in an “Occupy Jericho” movement of protest. •   Rod Chavez openly questioned the legal authority of the employees and consequently they attempted to bar him from even entering the church.  The Prince Georges County Court saw this as a blatant attempt at intimidation and ruled in Rod’s favor. •   Mr. Smallwood a maintenance worker at the church was fired for simply helping me set up chairs for a ministry related event.

Even Radio One was threatened with a lawsuit if they continued a relationship with First Lady Ylawnda and me.  Because of these attacks, my family and I understand clearly that we are blessed beyond measure by the unwavering support of the City of Praise congregation.  We are also blessed by pastors not only in the region, but also throughout the entire country who have lifted us up in prayer.

We are encouraged by this victory and will continue to do the work of the ministry.

 God almighty scored a first round TKO of the Six Unelected, Self-Appointed Rogue board members today at the county court-house in Upper Marlboro, MD.  The Judge would not allow such a ridiculous law suit to be heard in his court room. Finally a glimpse of sensibility from Judge Dwight Jackson. The six rogue board members led by chief rogue Gloria McClam-McGruder tried to get control of the separate ministry of Pastor Joel R. Peebles called Joel Peebles Ministries. They also wanted the judge to have Pastor Joel Peebles to turn over to them the ‘LOVE OFFERING’ giving to him by church members during this past New Years Eve service. It’s was always about the money!!  They also sued the only true long time Chairman of the Board of Trustees, William Meadows.  This was the second devastating loss in court that this rogue board and their unscrupulous attorney Issac Marks have suffered this year.  NEWS FLASH to you ‘EVILDOERS“, this is just the beginning of your end at the City of Praise.  God will not be mocked, you 7 people and your help will reap what you have sown.

The Attorney for the six rogues, Issac Marks continued his shameless assault on our church tithes and offerings by collecting somewhere in the neighborhood of $8000.00 to $13,000.00 for this half day fiasco.  

Church tithes and offerings should not be used to bank roll this lawyer starting a new practice after being let go from O’Malley, Miles, Nylen & Gilmore, nor to fund these six rogue members outrageous spending sprees. They should have to pay us all back!!

That’s why we don’t give them our tithes and offerings anymore so they can mismanage. Don’t give them a dime, they are not responsible people.

A PRAISE REPORT: while at the county court-house today, one man going thru a rough divorce gave his life to Christ outside after his case was heard. The angels in heaven rejoice when one sinner gives his life over to Jesus!

 GLORY TO GOD!!   That’s why we had to be there today.

DISRESPECT – DISRESPECT – BLATANT DISRESPECT

Since these Six, Unelected, Self-Appointed, Rogue trustee board members seized control of this ministry they have blatantly, arrogantly and consistently disrespected our pastor, Pastor Joel R. Peebles Sr. in every way possible.  Two recent examples come to mind.  For many years Apostle Betty P. Peebles and Pastor Joel R. Peebles had their sermons aired on a local cable TV station in DC and Maryland, PG Lease Access 190 at 10:00 pm. The sermons aired nightly Monday thru Friday.  Since her death this Rogue Board has decided to make sure that Pastor Joel’s TV following decreases and his sermons are ineffective.  So they initially  played the same two or three sermons.  They do not want him viewed positively they want viewers not to come back.  They then switched to showing Apostle Betty Peebles’s old sermons, anything to keep Pastor Joel from being seen or heard. —  SAD BUT TRUE!

Secondly,  below you will see a bulletin from the Jericho City of Praise for the month of April 2012 (we did not make this up). We challenge anyone to look through it and try to find one place, just one place, uno place in this bulletin where Pastor Joel R. Peebles name appears. Find One???   You will not even be able to find him under the disrespectful name that the Six Rogues address him as “Elder Joel Peebles” never Pastor Joel or Pastor Peebles. When you find one place where Pastor Joel’s named is written, let us know in the comment section maybe we overlooked it.
